SeapixOnlineDisplaying 8893 of 11118 TED ASHBY (1993) is a replica of the scows which operated extensively around the coast of early New Zealand hauling timber and other bulk cargoes. These sturdy vessels were flat-bottomed allowing them easy passage on the shallow tidal rivers. TED ASHBY is part of the fleet of vessels operated today by the NZ National Maritime Museum in Auckland. Arriving in the background is the container ship CONTSHIP BOREALIS (2002/46009grt/IMO 9232589. Renamed CP BOREALIS, MAERSK DAYTON, GLASGOW EXPRESS).
