Named after the last Aztec Emperor Cuauhtemoc, the vessel is used for training future officers and cadets.
CUAUHTEMOC carries 2368 sq. metres (25489q. ft) of sail and is the last of four sisterships built in Bilbao, Spain, the others being GLORIA (Colombia), GUAYAS (Ecuador) and the SIMON BOLIVAR (Venezuela).
