SeapixOnlineDisplaying 2257 of 11118 It is a rare sight over 16 and 17 January to see both Queens Wharf Cruise Terminal and Princes Wharf, Auckland’s other cruise ship facility, both occupied. This meant another cruise ship having to drop the pick at a mid-harbour anchorage.
Queens Wharf was occupied by Viking Cruises’ VIKING ORION and Princes Wharf by Ponant’s LE LAPEROUSE.
Crystal Cruises’ CRYSTAL SYMPHONY, her future secured since A&K Travel Group (Abercrombie & Kent) acquired the brand following the bankruptcy of the Crystal Cruise line, was apparently a “late booking” at the port.
With Princess Cruises’ GRAND PRINCESS arriving this morning (17th) to replace LE LAPEROUSE which sailed for Waiheke Island last evening, CRYSTAL SYMPHONY was moved to a Gulf anchorage overnight to allow GRAND PRINCESS which arrived in the early hours, to manoeuvre into Princes Wharf.
CRYSTAL SYMPHONY arrived back to the mid-harbour anchorage a couple of hours later.
She was later moved from the harbour anchorage, but this time to one of the Fergusson Container Terminal berths. Keywords: cruiseship; cruise ship; cruising; cruises; ships; shipping; auckland; ports of auckland; new zealand; nz |
