SeapixOnlineDisplaying 348 of 11133 The Indian Navy’s stealth guided-missile destroyer INS KOLKATA arrived into Auckland this morning three hours-plus due to thick fog.
She is the first Indian naval vessel to visit since INS Sumitra which was in Auckland in 2016 for the RNZN’s 75th Anniversary Naval Review. She is also the first Indian-designed and built Project-15A class destroyers, built at the Mazagon Dock in Mumbai.
While INS Kolkata is visiting Auckland, another Indian vessel, the multi-role frigate INS Sahyardri will be in Wellington.
Both vessels are here for 4-day resupply and recreational stopsovers.
Time permitting, there will be some interaction with members of the RNZN.
Both ships have been in Australia taking part in the Malabar maritime exercises. Keywords: warship; indian navy; naval; guided missile destroyer, stealth, ship; ships; shipping; auckland; new zealand; nz |
