Built in France in 1985 for service in the Mediterranean, she became Bluebridge's first vessel after the company's passenger carrying services began in 2002.
The much-loved ship made her final Wellington-Picton crossing on 20 June and was subsequently laid up in the capital.
Santa Regina left Wellington for the final time on 1 September coming north for a brief drydocking at the Babcock NZ facility in Auckland.
She has been replaced by the Strait Feronia which sailed into the Wellington in June at the end of her delivery voyage from Sweden.
