HMNZS MANAWANUI (AO9, ex-STAR PERSEUS) leads the new Project Protector IPV (inshore patrol vessel) HMNZS TAUPO (P3570) into Auckland Harbour.
The 340-tonne HMNZS TAUPO, with a service speed of around 25 knots and a range of 3000 nautical miles, was built by Tenix Shipbuilding (NZ) Ltd and will be deployed in protection of New Zealand's shoreline and 200 mile Economic Exclusion Zone (EEZ).
The 911-tonne HMNZS MANAWANUI, was formerly a North Sea oil rig diving support vessel, was commisioned into service with the RNZN in 1988. She has a service speed of around 11 knots and a range of some 5000 nautical miles. 25 September 2009. Photo by SeapixOnline.com/Trevor Coppock
