SeapixOnlineDisplaying 2234 of 11102 SERENE (2011/7830grt) - makes a dawn arrival in Auckland this morning (21 January 2015). Built by Fincantieri Yachts of Muggiano, Italy, SERENE is owned by Russian tycoon Yuri Shefler the name behind the world famous Stolichnaya vodka brand in addition to retail interests. At 133.9m (439.3') in length, she is the largest superyacht to date to visit New Zealand. It is rumored that her owner is spending a few weeks holidaying in New Zealand. Asia Pacific Superyachts NZ are Serene's agents while here but despite arranging this visit and providing services to the vessel during its time here, when approached late last week by me, denied all knowledge of this event, instead saying that the local port company had made a typographic mistake on their website. They went on to say they would know if such a vessel was due here. Obviously, they wanted to keep things as low key as possible. SERENE's interior is by Reymond Langton Design, her exterior by Espen Oeino International. She is steel-hulled with aluminum superstructure and is Lloyds/SOLAS classified. She can accommodate 24 guests in 12 staterooms and carries a crew of 52. She also has two helicopter landing platforms (one with a hangar), storage for a large submarine able to reach a depth of more than 100 metres, a huge internal sea water pool that can be also used for tender docking and 2,700 square metres of luxury interior space.
