Martinac Shipbuilding of Tacoma, Washington, US. She is operated by the Sea Education Association for oceanographic research and sail training. Based in the Pacific generally sails between San Diego, Honolulu, Tahiti and San Francisco. This is a rare visit to Auckland, part of the association's "The Global Ocean" cruise which also includes calls at Dunedin, Christchurch, Wellington and Paihia in the Bay of Islands.
