SeapixOnlineDisplaying 4 of 4 HMAS CHOULES (L100) - a Bay-class landing ship dock, sails from Auckland's commercial port following a four-day stop-over in the city. Built by Swan Hunter, UK as the Royal Navy's RFA Largs Bay and launched in 2003 she fell victim to the UK's Strategic Defence and Security Review in 2010. The RAN successfully bid for her and following some modifications for Australian requirements, she was commissioned at the end of 2011. As RFA Largs Bay she patrolled the Falkland Islands in 2008 and landed relief supplies following the 2010 Haitian earthquake.
