Named VICTORIA STAR in 1999 she was built at the New South Wales State Dockyard as LADY WOODWARD but names were exchanged days before launching. She was one of three near identical sisters. After twenty three years service on Sydney Harbour she was laid up in 1993. The 573-passenger ferry was to have been sold to Hong Kong interests but plans fell through. She was purchased after a five year lay-up by Melbourne Star Cruises and over a fifteen month period was refitted extensively as a luxury cruising vessel. She re-entered service on the Yarra River, Melbourne on 3 December 1999 as VICTORIA STAR.
