SeapixOnlineDisplaying 9376 of 11052 TUHUA and SIERRA in close-quarters racing near the top mark of the 2010 tug race course. SIERRA (1917) was built as a harbour ferry and general workboat. She was also part of the Subritzky fleet in later years. Steamed around the coast to Auckland in the 1950’s she was used as a ferry for the workmen during the construction of the Auckland Harbour Bridge in the late 1950's. TUHUA was built in 1938 for the Whakatane Harbour Board. Has been used as a fishing and charter boat. She underwent a massive refit some years ago changing her appearance somewhat. Keywords: |
