SeapixOnlineDisplaying 7604 of 11052 SHAMROCK (1915) heads MAPU and OLGA at the top mark of the course during the 2009 Auckland Anniversary Day Regatta tug race. SHAMROCK, built for Faulkner Ferries of Tauranga and today a well known charterboat on the Kaipara Harbour north of Auckland, NZ, ended the race in 12th place. MARU was built in 1913 at Totara North on the Whangaroa Harbour in Northland, NZ by T.M. Lane. She is owned today by Dr.Mark Lane of Auckland.
OLGA is a 54' wooden pleasure boat of workboat design. She was built in Opua in the Bay of Islands, NZ and her owners undertake the occasional towing job. MAPU took 13th place and OLGA 15th.
In March 2017 SHAMROCK hit rocks entering Tutukaka Harbour in Northland.
