DALDY (1935/348grt/IMO 5390345) and her successor, the operational Ports of Auckland tug DALDY (1977/226grt/IMO 7519127) manoeuvre in the starting area of the 2009 Auckland Anniversary Day Regatta tug race. The tiny VICTORIA, part of the New Zealand Maritime Museum's collection gets an up close view although she was not part of the tug race fleet. WILLIAM C. DALDY was built by Lobnitz and Co of Renfrew, Scotland and served the Auckland Harbour Board for 41 years until retirement in 1977. Today she is operated by the William C. Daldy Preservation Society and took line honours in the tug race beating her much more recently built rivals. |
