SeapixOnline- Sailing Ship, Tall ships - 1 of 1 SOREN LARSEN and WILLIAM C. DALDY, Auckland Anniversary Day Regatta, NZ. SOREN LARSEN is a 125grt brigantine built in 1949 in Denmark. Although formerly registered in Colchester, England, she was for some years homeported in Auckland, New Zealand. However, in 2011 SOREN LARSEN moved base from Auckland, NZ, and as of that date is operated by Sydney Harbour Tall Ships, Australia. She still voyages around the Pacific as well as doing day sails on Sydney Harbour.
Carrying 650 sq. metres of sail, she is seen here on Auckland's Waitemata Harbour during the city's 168th Anniversary Day regatta. With her is the preserved steam tug WILLIAM C. DALDY. Built in 1936 in Refrew, Scotland for the Auckland Harbour Board, she was sailed out to Auckland via Suez and the Far East taking some two months to complete the voyage.
