SeapixOnlineDisplaying 10 of 14 TE HAURAKI built in 1920 at the old Auckland Harbour Board workshops, her career with the AHB spanned some 50+ years until she was retired in the 1970's.
During her time on Auckland's Waitemata Harbour she was one of the most powerful towing launches.
After her retirement she was locked away in a farm shed for thirty years and hence sails today in her original condition without any modifications. She is powered by a 190hp 6 cylinder Cummins diesel engine.
She is seen here rounding the first mark of the 168th Auckland Anniversary Day Regatta tug race. Ports of Auckland's WAIPAPA (2000/338grt/IMO 9212072) trails in her wake. Keywords: MARITIME IMAGES, Tugs, Workboats |
