SeapixOnline- Historic/Older Vessels - 1 of 1 AUCKLAND ANNIVERSARY DAY REGATTA - For the first time in its' 167 year history, what is billed as the worlds' largest one-day regatta, saw a fleet of 26 operational, retired, vintage and veteran tugs racing each other, trophies for fastest tug (donated by NZ's Professional Skipper magazine), best presented operational tug and best presented retired tug. Tugs ranged from todays operational fleet to vintage tugs and towboats well over 100 years old. Seen here are the steam tug WILLIAM C. DALDY of 1935 (yellow smokestack), TAMAKI (215grt/IMO 7226550) of 1972 (blue funnel) and the red and black CHRISTINE MARY (ex-QS MAPLE).
