SeapixOnlineDisplaying 5363 of 11102 The Canadian Halifax-class frigate HMCS Calgary became the first international naval visitor to New Zealand since the beginning of the Covid pandemic when she arrived in Auckland yesterday morning (4 August), coming alongside at Princes Wharf.
In New Zealand to participate in cultural, sporting and naval training activities, all crew members were be able to dodge New Zealand’s strict Covid rules, including managed isolation and quarantine (MIQ) and disembark. However, no crew will be allowed to disembark until all provisions of the Maritime Broder Order which includes all crew returning negative Covid tests have been fulfilled.
The ship and all crew, the majority of whom have all been fully vaccinated, has been at sea for 17 days and has therefore effectively completed their 14-day isolation period thanks to the Maritime Border Order established to help protect New Zealanders from the global virus.
