SeapixOnlineDisplaying 91 of 11060 LATITUDE, an expedition superyacht, departs Auckland's Silo Marina. Built in 1973 by JG Hitzler in Germany she was converted to a superyacht between 2003 and 2006 and refitted in 2020. The 54.7m LATITUDE carries up to 12 guests in 6 cabins and 16 crew. She cruises at 10kts. In the background is the 55m superyacht DANCING HARE departing for a day exploring the Hauraki Gulf islands.
Built by Amels in Holland in 1986 for Emad Khashoggi, he later sold her to Robert Maxwell, the infamous Czech-born, British media baron who named the yacht LADY GHISLAINE afters his now equally infamous daughter Ghislaine.
Of course this vessel hit the headlines when the larger than life Maxwell was found dead in mysterious circumstances, floating nearby face down in the Atlantic Ocean in 1991 while the vessel was cruising near the Canary Islands.
Following a period owned by an Arabian businessman and sailing under the name LADY MONA K, she was on-sold to her present owner, Anna Murdoch Mann dePeyster, former wife of Maxwell's arch rival Rupert Murdoch, who had her refitted and renamed DANCING HARE.
She is registered in Bikini in the Marshall Islands. Keywords: latitude, dancing hare, lady mona K, lady ghislaine, anna murdoch mann depeyster, expedition yacht, auckland, new zealand, nz |
